The 'Ironmaster' William Crawshay commissioned Cyfarthfa Castle in 1824.  This grand castellated mansion overlooked his immensely successful ironworks and has been called 'the most impressive monument of the Industrial Iron Age in South Wales'. Admire the extensive fine and decorative art collections or stroll through the atmospheric social and industrial history galleries. Enjoy the elegant surroundings of this family house set in beautiful parkland, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.  FREE ADMISSION
Directions:
From the South take the M4 to Junction 32 and travel north on the A470.  From the Midlands take the A465 from Abergavenny.  From the North the A470 from Brecon.

Birthplace of Doctor Joseph Parry, probably Wales' best known musician and composer.  He achieved fame through his hymns and operas, his best known work being the love song 'Myfanwy'.  Number 4 Chapel Row is also a superb example of an ironworker's cottage.  Built in 1825 for the more skilled workers in the Cyfarthfa Ironworks.  Free Admission.  Open April - September, Thursday - Sunday, 2pm - 5pm.  Open at other times by appointment.  Contact Cyfarthfa Castle Museum.

Penderyn Distillery is the only distillery in Wales and one of the smallest in the world. One of the few remaining independent distilleries, Penderyn takes its name from the old Welsh village in which it is located and nestles in the foothills of the ancient Brecon Beacons mountain range. In our new Visitor Centre you can view the exhibition area, see the distilling and bottling process and relax in our tasting room.
About a 30 minute drive from Cardiff.

Penderyn Distillery is on the A4059 to Brecon in the centre of Penderyn village.
